PCVAD Strategic Planning Workshop Scheduled

A Porcine Circovirus Associated Disease (PCVAD) strategic planning workshop is scheduled for August 17 - 18, 2006 in Sioux City, NE.

The goal of the workshop is to develop a strategic plan that identifies research priorities to reduce the economic effect of PCVAD. This plan will then be used to leverage funding for PCVAD research dollars.

The Workshop will follow the George Young Swine Conference starting at 6-9 pm on August 17th with Speakers presenting various topics on PCVAD. The Workshop will continue on August 18th from 7:30am - 3:30pm where attendees will be divided into breakout groups to facilitate discussion for establishing research priorities by breakout topic (i.e.: Research priorities for immunology). Once groups have finished a topic, the attendees will reassemble and a spokesperson from each breakout group will present their group's research priorities. Attendees will vote on each priority to rank them by topic for the strategic plan. This format will continue through the five research topics (Immunology, Epidemiology, Pathogenesis, Diagnostics, and Vaccinology/Interventions/Treatments).

The workshop is free, but registration is required. Registration information can be found at http://www.pork.org/PorkScience/registration/pcvadregistration.aspx.
