Position Announcement: Faculty Member in Swine Health

The University of Minnesota, College of Veterinary Medicine, Veterinary Population Medicine Department announces the recruitment for a faculty position in Swine Health. The University seeks an individual with outstanding credentials and a record as a leader in the application of science-based medicine for the improvement of swine health and production. The position will be a 100%, tenure track faculty position. The appointment will be at the rank of assistant or associate professor, dependent upon qualifications and experience consistent with collegiate and University policy.

Requirements

Candidates must have a DVM or equivalent foreign degree, a PhD and experience in swine health and infectious disease research. The individual must have research experience and expertise, authority in their respective field, experience with disease control, biosecurity and an appreciation for the breadth of issues facing the global swine industry. A track record in research and training is desired. Expertise in laboratory based methods and/or strong numerical and analytical skills is desired.

Duties

This position is at least 50% research. The selected individual will be responsible for establishing an independent research program which is a major component of this position. Duties will also include providing education to veterinary students, graduate students and continuing education. The position will leave latitude for the individual to define their focus and activities; however, they must fit within the CVM collegiate research and Departmental Swine Group strategic plans. The swine faculty member will have significant interaction with the swine industries of Minnesota and North America.

Salary/Rank

Commensurate with experience and qualifications.
