Position Announcement: Senior Veterinarian Technical Services (Swine)

Bayer Animal Health seeks to fill a Senior Veterinarian Technical Services (Swine) position. The position is primarily responsible for the implementation and technical product management of products developed for the Animal Health Industries. This position is also responsible for management and reporting database, management and resolution for livestock incident reports and veterinary services approval of promotional materials. Promotes and organizes meetings with industry, technicians, veterinarians, university clinicians and lecturers, extension specialist and professional trade associations, in support of field sales. The Senior Veterinarian Technical Services position provides technical expertise to the Bayer Animal Health and distributor sales representatives, on all Bayer Animal Health Products and disease programs with special emphasis on Animal Health products and diseases.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Develops communications with practicing veterinarians, Colleges of Veterinary Medicine, Land Grant Universities, Extension Specialists, and Technicians to promote animal health disease prevention programs and Bayer Animal Health Products.
  • Prepares special analysis as required to support Animal Health Business Development and other management decisions on Bayer Health Products.
  • Reviews National Animal Health conditions and advises Director of Veterinary Technical Services, National Sales Manager and Marketing Director of specific requirements; makes recommendations toward present and future needs.
  • Establishes continuous contact with opinion leaders in the Animal Health Industry through Breed Associations, Veterinary Organizations and Technician Associations.
  • Organizes and presents Livestock Animal Health and Bayer product meetings for veterinary organizations.
  • Presents technical products demonstrations in conjunction with local sales representatives, consultants and practicing veterinarians.
  • Develops technical product profiles for Bayer Animal Health and competitive products, and participates in technical aspects of product positioning.
  • Contacts veterinary research operations and leading practitioners, in cooperation with Bayer Animal Health research and development personnel to establish market support field trails and technical aspects of product positioning.
  • Establishes contact with State Veterinarians, State Commissioners of Agriculture and Public Health Officials to become acquainted with all State Animal Health requirements and regulations.
  • Develops and presents technical training to Bayer Animal Health distributor sales personnel and producers on livestock diseases and Bayer Animal Health products.
  • Conducts/manages compliant investigations and resolves them or makes recommendations to management as to their final disposition.
  • Provides a written report monthly to the Director of Veterinary Technical Services of activities, plans and progress of all assigned responsibilities.
  • Coordinates and oversees livestock and adverse event reporting and resolution thereof, utilizes the Adverse Event electronic database as needed to satisfy Regulatory Affairs reporting requirements and other internal Bayer customers.
  • Maintains file of ongoing and completed market support field trials conducted by Veterinary Technical Services.
  • Manages/coordinates execution and completion of Field Safety Studies for Animal Health products as needed.
  • Provides Veterinary Services counsel/recommendations/review of Animal Health Product Promotional Materials.

Qualifications

  • The position requires a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree and a minimum of 3 to 5 years of clinical practice experience, or its equivalent.
  • The incumbent must have a sound understanding of disease control, animal requirements and the ability to develop disease prevention programs.
  • This position requires strong organizational and communicative skills. The ability to interact with top management personnel, as well as the communicative skills to work with veterinary practitioners in essential.
  • The incumbent must have the maturity to deal with unhappy owners and veterinarians as well as highly skilled educators.
  • The Technical Services Veterinarian must have the ability to analyze research and diagnose serious Animal Health problems and then develop satisfactory solutions. The incumbent must be able to develop protocols for market support field trials and supervise the completion.
