Position Announcement: Assistant Vice President of Science and Technology

The National Pork Board is seeking a dynamic Assistant Vice President of Science and Technology. This position will assist with the development and coordination of Science and Technology department programs as they relate to pork production. This includes swine health, animal welfare, production sciences, pork safety and quality, producer and public health and sustainability. This person will focus on optimizing and coordinating the overall research strategy to further improve the overall success of the Pork Checkoff’s Science and Technology research funding efforts. Knowledge of National Pork Board policies and practices is helpful.

Applicants should have a minimum 5 years’ experience in an animal agriculture related profession, with preference shown to those involved in the pork industry. A strong ability to communicate with producers, veterinarians, government officials, and those in academia will be imperative.

An advanced animal or meat science degree or equivalent technical and industry experience is required.

The National Pork Board has responsibility for Checkoff funded research, promotion and consumer information projects and for communicating with pork producers and the public. The Pork Checkoff funds national and state programs in advertising, consumer information, retail and foodservice marketing, export market promotion, production and education and science and technology. Applicants should be able to support the mission of the organization with enthusiasm to serve U.S. pork producers.

This position requires modest travel both domestically and internationally by plane and car therefore a good driving record and the ability to leave and enter the country is required.
