Getting Acrobat Reader

Adobe(R) Acrobat(TM) Reader software is available free-of-charge for Macintosh, Windows (16- and 32-bit), DOS, OS/2, and Unix at:

Get Acrobat!http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep.html

Note that there may also be pre-release "Beta test" software available at this site. I would recommend that you stick with the released versions of the software.

If you prefer, you may want to try getting the Acrobat(TM) Reader directly from their ftp site:

ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/acrobatreader/

From here, choose the directory for your operating system (mac, win, dos, os2, unix). You may need to choose another subdirectory for the most recent version of the software (e.g., "4.x").

Look for a filename such as ar40eng.exe; this is the regular Acrobat Reader ("ar") 4.0 ("40") English ("eng") version. If you're unsure what file to get, look for a matching ".txt" file to read a description. Choosing ar40esl.exe won't magically translate articles, but it will offer a Spanish-language user interface to the Reader application.
