Dr. John David Hottell 78, of Decatur, passed away Sunday January 5, 2013 at Lutheran Hospital. Dr. Hottell was an AASV Life Member. John was born on August 5, 1935 to the late Leo Conrad and Hattie Belle (Stover) Hottell in Corydon, IN. He married Bessie M. Baker on June 16, 1961. John was a member of St. Marks United Methodist Church, and Delta Tau Delta Fraternity. John retired from Central Soya as the Senior Livestock Veterinarian, as well as working for Ralston-Purina in St. Louis Missouri. In 2000 he also retired from Archer Daniels Midland. John is survived by his wife Bess M. Hottell of Decatur, IN., one son Scott David (Lisa “Peters”) Hottell of Westfield, IN., two daughters Angie Urick of Decatur and Beth Ann (Pete) Herber of Fort Wayne, IN., one Grandson Nolan David Hottell and two Granddaughters Samantha and Jessica Herber. John was preceded in death by Anna Louise Berg Anderson and Betty Lee Slatter. Services were held on Saturday January 11, 2014 at Haggard Sefton & Hirschy Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Adams County Salvation Army.
