Purchased by: Dennis Villani and Dale Mechler: $3250

A 2 day, 3 person fully guided night vision thermal hog hunt with meals, lodging and ammo included and a $500 travel voucher.

At Wild River Ranch (http://www.wildriverranch.net/Home.html), located on the San Antonio river near Goliad, Texas, we use only the latest, Generation III, Military grade Night Vision Devices. We also use Thermal imaging. This amazing technology allows us to see even in ZERO light, including new moon, and under the canopy of the forest. Imagine the excitement of stalking up to 15 wild hogs with an AR-15 and 4X NV, or shooting them from a 2 story tall monster truck at night. Use of our 6.8 SPC fully suppressed rifles with night vision scopes is included along with hunting ammo which is included in this package…if you would like to use our 900 yard rifle range you can purchase that ammo at the lodge. GUARANTEE - If we never see one, you come back for free.

SAFETY - We will stress this again and again. Our hog hunts can potentially be dangerous. The animals themselves sometimes charge the hunters, and when we are in combat mode, things get wooly in a hurry. If you have never handled a semi-automatic rifle before, we hope that you will tell us that. We do everything possible to avoid accidents. Wild River Ranch has partnered with experienced instructors with extensive military, combat and law enforcement backgrounds to bring our clients professional training to enhance their hunting experience at the ranch. We will have a short course (30 minute training class included) prior to the first night hunt along with pre-shoot at the range but if you want to upgrade this experience we can talk about it when we schedule your hunt.

74. Joe Barban Image: Greater Prairie Chicken
Donated by: Carthage Veterinary Service & Joe Barban
Purchased by: Doug Groth: $125

The Valentine National Wildlife Refuge is home to this Greater Prairie Chicken. Audubon says of this bird: "Greater Prairie-Chickens perform striking courtship dances on communal display grounds: the males strut about and stamp their feet, with "horns" erect and yellow-orange sacs of skin inflated on the sides of the neck, meanwhile uttering a deep cooing call that may carry a mile. They leap and whirl in the air, and threaten each other by short runs with tail raised, head down, and horns erect."

Jean and I make our annual trip to Valentine National Wildlife Refuge to photograph the Prairie chickens on the lek. We settle into the blind before daybreak and as the sun rises, the birds fly into view from their overnight roost. The males begin their courtship ritual and our cameras go into action. On this particular day, there were approximately 15 birds on the lek.

77. Fragile: The Human Condition, by Howard Buffett - Autographed
Donated by: Joe Barban
Purchased by: Brian Schantz: $150

"Fragile" is the documentation of life stories in sixty-five countries. It is about personal accounts, some successful, some shattering. The book is an effort to move intellectual discussions to face emotional realitites. It is one man's attempt to bring this reality to those who may be motivated to affect change.

It is difficult to write a book about so much that is wrong in the world - the stark truth may cause many readers to turn away, but if stories are sugar-coated, the truth becomes distorted. There is a fine balance between suffering and solutions.

With more than 440 color photographs, Fragile portrays the challenges of life for some four billion people on our planet. Yet it is their perseverance and determination that allow for hope, but it is a hope that can only be realized from action.

Howard was kind enough to autograph this copy, which will make a wonderful addition to the personal library of anyone who is involved in food production. Care to know more about the Howard G. Buffett Foundation and their work? Follow the link to the website: www.thehowardgbuffettfoundation.org.

Liquitein provides critical nutrients through the water when pigs are not inclined to eat. The benefits of using plasma in spray-dried form are well established.
