AVMA Seeks Comment on Revised Model Veterinary Practice Act

The American Veterinary Medical Association's Model Veterinary Practice Act (MVPA) is a cornerstone policy that is used as a primary resource during the writing and review of veterinary practice acts across the United States. It also includes the AVMA's definition of the Veterinarian-Client-Patient Relationship. Veterinarians and other interested parties have a unique opportunity to have a voice in revising this policy, which affects the day-to-day lives of practicing veterinarians across the country.

The MVPA is now under review, revisions have been proposed, and the resulting draft is open for comment. We encourage you to provide your input so that the AVMA hears directly from you on this key policy. The comment period will remain open until March 25, 2018.

The proposed changes to the MVPA can be viewed and comments submitted here.

Reviewing and commenting on proposed changes to the Model Veterinary Practice Act gives you an opportunity to make your voice heard on a matter that directly impacts the daily practice of veterinary medicine. The AVMA--and indeed our entire profession--are made stronger when the diverse perspectives of all veterinarians are considered.
