CSU Researchers Looking for Swine Caretakers to Participate in Perceptions of Euthanasia Phone Interviews

Researchers at Colorado State University have recently received funding from the National Pork Board to conduct interviews with sow-farm caretakers who perform euthanasia as part of the their job. The goal of the research is to gain a detailed understanding of the euthanasia-related experiences of caretakers in order to develop appropriate intervention, support, and training programs to be utilized by employers to help support this important animal care responsibility. Participants will be asked questions related specifically to method and frequency of euthanasia, training, and support networks inside and outside of work. The research team is looking for your assistance in connecting with and recruiting individuals that may be interested in participating in the project (eg, send out a recruitment email, post a flyer, etc). Phone interviews will be offered in Spanish or English; the research team is also willing to travel to a general location (off-farm) to conduct interviews if there is significant interest in a particular area. Participation is voluntary and anonymous and participants will receive gift cards for their time. The research team would like to conduct these interviews as soon as possible, but are very flexible with scheduling.
