Zoonoses Prevention Resources and Educational Materials

The National Association of State Public Health Veterinarians has a toolkit containing resources to prevent zoonoses associated with animals in public settings. The Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists has created a repository of educational materials and products developed out of the Influenza Education Among Youth in Agriculture Program. Both sites house many different free resources, activities guides, and educational material for you to use or distribute as needed.

Toolkit to Prevent Zoonoses Association with Animals in Public Settings

The National Association of State Public Health Veterinarians has updated their toolkit containing resources to prevent zoonoses associated with animals in public settings (agricultural fairs, petting zoos, etc.) These selected items are examples of educational resources that stakeholders can use to encourage implementation of the principles outlined in the Compendium of Measures to Prevent Disease Associated with Animals Public Settings.

These resources can be used for a variety of audiences, including exhibit and farm visit organizers, visitors, and youth. Resources include factsheets, presentations, online courses, and signage.

Resource Repository for Influenza Education Among Youth in Agriculture

The Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists, in collaboration with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and project grantees, has created a repository of educational materials and products developed out of the Influenza Education Among Youth in Agriculture Program. This program leverages collaborative partnerships across state health departments, state departments of agriculture, 4-H programs, and other stakeholders to develop educational tools about public health, zoonotic diseases, and youth safety around animals, operationalizing the One Health approach. This repository will serve as a resource for local, state, federal partners, youth educators, and the general public. Types of resources contained in this repository include:

  • Educational Inter-Agency Events

  • Surveys
