2020 Podcast Series: Jenelle Dunkelberger

In this interview with Topigs Norsvin geneticist Dr. Jenelle Dunkelberger and second year veterinary student Paige Schoonveld (Kansas State University), we discuss a research study that has large implications for improving genetic robustness to PRRS virus through breeding selection techniques. This study evaluates both a Topigs Norsvin sire line compared to a competitor line, as well as comparing genetic differences between offspring from Topigs Norsvin Tempo line sires specifically. Improving swine health via breeding paves the way for disease mitigation, overall operational financial improvement, and new scientific discovery in the realms of genetics.
