AASV to Hold Session at World Pork Expo
May 30, 2012 — Harry Snelson
The AASV will hold a members-only session again this year at the World Pork Expo. This year's session, chaired by AASV Vice president Michelle Sprague, will examine the issues associated with sow gestation housing and recent FDA actions.
Sow gestation housing continues to be a very relevant and timely topic. Representatives of United Egg Producers will kick off the meeting with a presentation about their recent agreement with HSUS and proposed federal legislation. Discussion about various sow gestation housing and feeding systems will follow. The meeting will conclude with an update on new and proposed FDA regulations on antibiotic use in food-producing animals.
The session will be held on Thursday June 7 1:00 - 5:00pm in the Elwell Family Food Center (formerly known as the Tourism Building) at the Iowa State Fairgrounds. There is no pre-registration or fee to attend the session. AASV members can view the agenda online.
The meeting is open to AASV members only.
