AASV Foundation
Great turnout for AASV golf outing!

Fifty-six intrepid golfers teed up for the AASV Foundation’s Midwest Golf Outing at Fox Ridge Golf Club in Dike, Iowa, on August 19. With a tenacity characteristic of the livestock they tend, four teams persevered to complete 18 holes during intermittent rain, while the other teams enjoyed the hospitality and fellowship in the club house.

Fox Ridge Country Club is owned by swine veterinarian Steve Menke, who practices in Ottumwa, Iowa. His son, Mike, is the PGA golf pro and manager. The course was in excellent shape and the greens were double-rolled to make them lightning fast. Thanks, Mike!

Over an Iowa pork-chop supper, Dr Ron White, event organizer, thanked sponsors and golfers for their continued support of the foundation and the AASV. As the sun came out, Dr White announced individual and team contest winners. Afterward, Mike kept the course open for golfers to play.

Thanks fore your support!

The golf outing would not be possible without the generous support of our sponsors. This year’s sponsors were IVESCO (awards ceremony); Sirrah Bios (beverage cart); and golf-hole sponsors Chris Hansen, DeWaay Capital Management (team photographs), Fort Dodge Animal Health (6th hole, closest-to-the-pin contest), Harris Vaccines (7th hole, give-away of golf balls and tees), Newport Laboratories (16th hole, longest-drive contest), and Pfizer Animal Health.

Proceeds from the outing support the foundation and its programs that benefit veterinary students and swine veterinarians. These programs include veterinary-student scholarships and annual-meeting stipends, research grants, externship grants, AASV student intern, National Pork Industry foundation grants, the Heritage Award, and the Howard Dunne and Alex Hogg Memorial lectures.
