American Board of Veterinary Practitioners certifies three Diplomates in Swine Health Management Practice

Nashville, Tennessee–Three veterinarians have been certified by the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners (ABVP) in Swine Health Management Practice after the December 1997 examinations. All Diplomates mastered a rigorous and demanding application process and certification examination in order to obtain Diplomate status. To qualify to sit for the extensive 2-day examination, a veterinarian must complete either a residence program or 6 years of clinical veterinary practice. In addition, an application, references, continuing education, and two publication-quality case reports must pass review.

The ABVP was established in 1978 to recognize excellence in clinical practice through the certification of species-oriented specialists. Approximately 575 veterinarians worldwide are certified in one of eight practice categories: Canine and Feline, Food Animal, Equine, Dairy, Swine Health Management, Avian, Beef Cattle, and Feline Practice.

The application deadline is January 15 with examinations administered in November of the same year to those who qualify. Applications may by secured from:
