Whether any new approaches as to how and when vaccines are administered can enhance their effectiveness, within the constraints of today's commercial swine production, remains to be determined. However, it is conceivable that at least the principles of the SWINE method of PRRS (pathogen) control will play an important role in future strategies to reduce the economic impact of PRRS and other infectious diseases that currently plague the swine industry.
