AASV Spouse and Family Activities

We are pleased to welcome spouses and families of AASV members to San Diego!

Please feel free to attend the company-sponsored social events with your AASV meeting attendee on Saturday and Sunday, including the Schering-Plough Reception (6:30 pm Saturday), the Fort Dodge/Wyeth Animal Health Welcome Reception (6:30-8:30 pm Sunday), and the Intervet Student Reception (8:30 pm Sunday). No tickets are required for these events. You may also purchase tickets for Monday night's AASV Awards Reception (sponsored by Elanco Animal Health) - these are available on the registration form and at the meeting.

San Diego offers a wealth of attractions and activities for you to explore. In addition, we've arranged the following activities for you to enjoy with other AASV spouses and family members:

AASV Prayer Breakfast
Sunday, March 9
7:00 - 8:00 am
Location: Harbor Island III
Sponsored by Newsham Choice Genetics

It's Sunday, and even though you're away from your home congregation, the AASV Prayer Breakfast will get your week off to a great start by nourishing your soul as well as your body. Bring your family and gather with other AASV meeting attendees for fellowship and a devotion led by Dr. Tom Wetzell. Your free will offering, along with support from Newsham Choice Genetics, will defray the cost of the breakfast. The devotion will conclude by 8:00 am to allow members the doctors to attend the pre-conference seminars, but feel free to stay and visit if you wish. All AASV meeting attendees and their family members are welcome!

Spouse Hospitality Suite
Monday, March 10
7:00 - 10:00 am
Location: Marina 5

All AASV spouses are invited to this informal gathering. Visit old friends and make new acquaintances as you enjoy pastries, juice, and coffee together, compliments of the AASV. If this is your first time attending the AASV meeting, you'll receive a warm welcome into this friendly group of spouses who share the bond of having a swine veterinarian in the family!

Spouse Tour: Harbor Cruise and San Diego City Tour
Monday, March 10
9:30 am - 3:30 pm
Meet in Grande Foyer at 9:15 am for departure
Fee: $100 per person

Welcome to San Diego, the "birthplace" of California and its second largest city! Sit back and enjoy colorful anecdotes, humorous stories and well-researched historical facts as you view and visit a variety of San Diego's most interesting sights with AASV's "First Lady" Nancy Olsen.

Your guided tour will begin with narrated transportation to the Harbor Cruise dock for a one-hour cruise of the San Diego bay, providing a unique perspective of the city and its maritime attractions.

Once back on land, your narrated tour of the city will continue with drive-by sightseeing of San Diego's Balboa Park, the historic Gaslamp Quarter, and Old Town as you make your way through the city to Casa Guadalajara, where you'll enjoy a delightful luncheon of traditional Mexican fare.

After lunch, you'll have free time to explore and shop in Old Town State Park - "Where San Diego Began" - celebrating San Diego's Spanish and Mexican heritage. Old Town San Diego is brimming with historical sites, and home to some of San Diego's best shops and cantinas.

Transportation, tour guide, lunch, and gratuities are all included in the tour registration fee. Advance registration is required and space is limited, so register early!
