Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea Virus (PEDv)
What's New This Week?
(Last updated: 2/12/2016)
Number of New Cases Reported -- This week's SECD new case report is delayed. According to a USDA announcement, "USDA will not issue an SECD report this week due to technical issues with the database that receives data from the diagnostic testing laboratories. We are working to correct the problem and will issue a report after the problem is resolved. This will not affect animal health, as producers and swine practitioners will continue to receive testing results directly from the diagnostic laboratories."
Weekly aggregate update of new cases. For the week ending 1/30/16, the report indicates there were 89 positive accessions from the 516 submissions (17.2% positive). There are 36 states confirming at least one case of PED since the beginning of the outbreak in 2013. The report also includes information on cases submitted for porcine deltacoronavirus (PDCoV) as well. USDA maintains all historic data on their SECD website at www.aphis.usda.gov/animal-health/secd.
