Production Systems Needed for Study About Biosecurity and PRRS
August 14, 2019 —
Broc Mauch, a veterinary student intern with Drs. Holtkamp and Linhares at Iowa State University, is seeking production systems to participate in a research study called "Biosecurity screening tool to identify breeding herds' risk to PRRS outbreak using a short survey."
Hello AASV Veterinarians,
My name is Broc Mauch and I am a veterinary student at Iowa State University working with Drs. Holtkamp and Linhares this summer. I am reaching out to you all today to invite your production systems to participate in a research study called "Biosecurity screening tool to identify breeding herds' risk to PRRS outbreak using a short survey". I will be utilizing this research as my summer study and submitting the abstract to AASV in the fall.
If you choose to participate, you will be asked to enroll 10 or more sow herds (these will be selected at random from a list of herds provided by you) and complete a risk assessment survey for each herd which should take about 8 minutes per herd. Upon completion of the study, each participating production system will receive a detailed analysis of their data and a benchmarking report comparing the biosecurity scores and key aspects of the farms of your system, as well as a comparison between enrolled production systems. The data obtained from your operation will remain confidential and will NOT be shared except for in de-identified summary format.
Production systems participating in this study will receive a $1,000 for compensation for time dedicated, upon completion of the surveys.
If you are interested in participating in this study or would like additional clarification about this study please contact me at email@example.com as soon as possible.
